First of all, we miss you and your children so much! We hope you are all safe, healthy, and doing your best in this unpredictable, uncertain time.
We hope you were able to stop by Bridgeway to pick up the work packets. They are fairly generic but we plan to provide you with additional resources and ideas. Check your email daily because this is a work in progress…for all of us!
For starters, we want to give you some information about the resources in the packet. The reading passages with questions are from a website called Readworks.org. It is a free website. Some of you may want to visit and print second grade passages to challenge your child. The math pages are also from a free website, Engage New York, a free site and aligned with the common core standards. Feel free to visit, browse, and print!
As we move forward each week, we will email you specific skills that we would be teaching if we were at school. Our language arts curriculum is called Wonders. Go to connected.mcgraw-hill.com. Use the username caliteracy and the password caliteracy2015 and you should be able to access the entire curriculum! Reading passages, vocabulary, grammar, etc. This week we are on Unit 4 , week 5.
We would also like to encourage you to visit californiaeei.org. It is an awesome resource with Science and Social Studies curriculum that is free and meaningful. It is a little confusing. You’ll need to watch a short video, register, then they will email you. The email will direct you how to order materials that they will mail to your house.
Children should be able to access Prodigy (on line math game) and Lexia (on line language arts game) from home. Email us if you need login information.
Storylineonline is a fun app. Actors and actresses read stories to your child. Lunch Doodles with Mo Williams (on youtube) is also engaging and fun.
We will continue to try and support you and your child the best we can. Stay safe and take care of yourselves.
