The Washington Unified School District has been using the “PLAYWORKS” recess and lunchtime playground program since the fall of 2013. The program is an effort to create a place for every child on the playground to feel included, be active and build valuable social and emotional skills.
The ultimate PLAYWORKS mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play.
For the past 20 years, PLAYWORKS has helped schools figure out what works best on their playgrounds, with an emphasis on safety, engagement and empowerment.
