Fifth General PTO Meeting - Meeting will be held in the Cafeteria

  3. Passive Fundraising (4 minutes)
    • Restaurants: Dickey’s #, May Restaurant details
    • School Cents: Ranking
    • Box Tops
    • Shoparoo
  4. PTO Service Project (4 minutes)
    • Bridgeway collected 3,400 items of non-perishable food. According to the OOTB coordinator this is enough food to supply the program for 3-4 months.
    • Classroom parties awarded to highest (average) donation by class.
      • K-2nd category winner: Mr. Tanner’s class with 5.67 items (average)
      • 3rd-5th category winner: Mrs. Dea’s class with 7.09 items (average)
      • 6th-8th category winner: Mrs. van der Heide with 5.04 items (average)
    • 4/15 packing event drew 27 volunteers.
    • Packing event service project submitted to Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program, awarded 5 Disneyland tickets to auction/raffle at Fall Carnival.
  5. Teacher Appreciation week 5/7 – 5/11 (4 minutes)
    • Update thus far.
    • Still collecting gift cards etc. for Teacher Raffle.
    • Thursday 5/10: teacher snacks, Friday 5/11: wear superhero clothes, make a card, picture or write a letter, teacher raffle.
  6. Spring Fundraiser Update (4 minutes)
    • 147 people attended. 8 different food offerings, plus DMC ice cream and dessert bar.
    • Over 60 silent auction packages, 20 raffle packages, 5 live auction items.
    • Total amount raised…
    • Set the date for next year (4/27 or 5/4). Submit facilities deposit.
  7. PTO Incentives Program: Bee Involved (15 minutes)
    • Year to date totals.
    • Assess current program.

  10. Technology Grant Discussion (10 minutes)
    • Member suggestion to allocate $5,000 towards technology next school year.
    • Replaces classroom libraries allocation ($5,000 each year, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018).

  4. Technology Discussion (5 minutes)
    • We have submitted for 2 separate grants to support our quest for additional Chromebooks in the classroom. One was to Lowe’s and the other to Teichert.
  5. Spring Fundraiser Discussion (5 minutes)
    • Tickets are now on sale! Go to https://bwipto2018.eventbrite.com
    • We have secured additional food vendors and Exclusive Realty is sponsoring the photo booth.
    • We are still looking for donations for our silent and live auction and raffle.
    • Next meeting is 03/27/18

  6. Passive Fundraising (5 minutes)
    • Restaurants: Dickey’s #, March – May Restaurants
    • School Cents: Ranking, upcoming Kid’s Clubs
  7. PTO Incentives Program: Bee Involved (10 minutes)
    • Development meeting 1/14 attended by: Claudia S., Audrey R., Erica L., John L., Samantha J., Charmaine F.
    • Identified events/fundraisers/participation which earn points.
    • Estimated best case scenario for involvement and worked backward from 1/10 meeting where $250 allocated to define point value.
    • Tracking participation: Event/Fundraiser leads to email beeinvolvedBWI@gmail.com, with exception of Amazon Smile, School Cents, Arden Fair Kids club and Restaurants where participants need to send screenshot, picture etc. to either the FB event, PTO FB page or email beeinvolvedBWI@gmail.com

    • Out of the Box Annual Food Drive runs 3/19 – 3/23
    • OOTB has been a BWI service project for years
    • BWI has very high participation (around 50%)
    • All food collected goes back to West Sac families in need.
    • PTO sponsored $110 for bags, and estimated $200-$300 for 3 participation parties.
  10. Teacher appreciation week 5/7 – 5/11 (5 minutes)
    • Lunch Thursday 5/10
    • Superhero themed w/superhero swag
    • Looking for volunteers: flowers, lunch, etc.
  11. Planning for next year (need leadership or these events/fundraisers won’t happen) (10 minutes)

    • Kick Off Meeting was held in December
      • If interested in volunteering, please see Michelle or Jeffrey after the meeting
      • Additionally, join our Facebook page for current updates
    • We have designated certain committees and are working to secure vendors
    • Next meeting is 01/16/18.
  6. Afterschool Program Presentation (10 minutes)
    • Looking for parent volunteers to form a team and identify actual costs and feasibility for Spring 2018 vs Fall 2018.
  7. Movie Night 2/2 (10 Minutes)
    • Year license purchased; good through 12/14/2018
    • FB poll post to decide movie
    • Canned food donations earn raffle ticket
      • 3 tickets will be drawn.
      • Winners choose from DVD of featured movie, or large lollipops.
    • Please look and consider signing up on the sheet being passed around to volunteer: set-up, concessions, tear-down for this event.
  8. Service project for our organization this year (5 minutes)

Second General PTO Meeting - Meeting will be held in the Cafeteria

  3. Financial Review (10 minutes)
    • Fall Carnival results
    • Cookie Dough results
    • Movie Night results
    • General Overview
  4. Host Additional Movie Nights (10 minutes)
    • Buy year license for $540
      • $128 from Harry Potter showing will apply towards the yearly fee of $540, so remaining cost = $412.
      • We earned $223 (before offsetting license fee), so 2 more PTO movie nights should cover cost.
      • Membership to Vote
    • AVID asked for assistance with a movie night in December so they can fundraise.
      • Need volunteers to assist with this showing
    • PTO has approval by admin to show another movie the night of 02/02/18.
      • Volunteers needed to assist with this showing
  5. Update on T-Shirt Fundraiser (2 minutes)
    • Co-fundraiser with Buzz Bucks program.
    • Julie Law-Marin and Lindsey Stratford to assist Erica with tallying and distribution.
  6. Decide on Large Capital Expenditures (“Why are we fundraising?”) (10 minutes)
    • Principal Chin to present 4th and 5th grade technology need
      • Membership to Vote where to allocate funds
    • Jeffrey to present outdoor classroom idea
    • Discussion of other ideas, assign members to research, and present at next meeting.
  7. Spring Fundraiser Discussion (10 minutes)
    • Looking to start planning this event.
      • If interested, please sign our sheet that is going around
    • First planning meeting to be held on November 15th
  8. Afterschool Program Presentation (10 minutes)
    • Erica – to present the current after school program structure and upcoming challenges to this model.
    • Angela Coburn – to discuss Southport’s model. Suggests a pilot program in the spring for Spanish language learning.
    • Group discussion about interest, applicable skill sets, and collaboration in developing groundwork with Erica & Angela.
  9. Teacher Appreciation “Thanksgiving” Lunch - 11/17/17 (5 minutes)
    • Sign-up.com to coordinate parent dish donations
    • Volunteers needed to prepare and cook meat for lunch (the cost of the meat will be reimbursed by the PTO)
    • Erica Lindley & Cher Ekasala are chairing this event
    • Membership to vote to add new line item Mid Year Teacher Appreciation Lunch for $200
