Fall Carnival 2017

Fall Carnival Thank you from the PTO President

Greetings Bridgeway Parents and Guardians,
I hope you were able to join us last Friday to usher in the start of autumn at our PTO Fall Carnival. The turnout was great, and I enjoyed seeing so many happy families and smiling faces! The success of PTO events and fundraisers directly correlates to the level of support from our BWI families and community. Thanks to all of you, the 2017 Fall Carnival enjoyed enormous support! I believe that every good deed should be recognized, and want to thank each and every individual and business who assisted in making this event a success.

To begin I would like to thank our parent and member volunteers – the backbone of our organization – for assisting with set-up and tear down, working tables, and coordinating the chaos of the dunk tank. Thank you very much: Jeffrey Albrecht, Kevin Baldwin, Samantha Burr, Jamie and Trisha Butler, Angela Coburn, Ashley Dau Zovi, Daniel  and Vanessa Gehringer, Gena Grefaldia, Jan Guting, Laura Ingram, David Janssen, Kristy Kloetzer, Sara MacLaughlin, Yuliya Mundy, DeAnn Ronning, Sharon Sargeant, Lori Schlunegger, Stacey Silvestre, Arianne Tremblay, and Amber Wallace.

Next I would like to thank the teachers and staff who volunteered for the dunk tank, and in some cases wore additional volunteer hats for this event. Thank you, in dunking order: Mrs. Kalinsky, Mrs. Porter, Ms. Pagan, Ms. Misty, Mr. Victor, Mrs. Kirby-Gonzalez, Mrs. van der Heide, and Mr. Robert. Thank you Mrs. Law-Marin for liaising the teacher dunkees and Mrs. Folks and Mrs. Utterback for assisting with ticket sales. Thank you to the tireless administrative staff, most of whom worked a full day before ensuring that our event went off without a hitch: Serge Gavrilov, Carlos Herrera, Daniel Jorrin, Nakona Felix, Angela Young, Vice Principal Raski, Vice Principal Grisaffi, and Principal Chin.

Thank you to the student leadership team, NJHS, and additional middle school volunteers for working diligently to help set up the games and concessions at the event. These students did an amazing job manning the carnival games to the supreme enjoyment of our younger Bees! Thank you Jennifer Moore and Cecelia from the YMCA for manning popcorn sales down to the last kernel. Thank you Mrs. Henson and the school band for a wonderful event performance and impromptu music during set up!

Thank you to the fantastic performers, entertainment sponsors and exhibit hosts: West Sacramento PD Officer Farnsworth and K9 Bolo, River City Dance Academy dancers, Randy and the West Sacramento FD smoke trailer, and the Grupo Folklorico Calli dancers. Thank you also to: the Brown family for sponsoring Dilly Dally The Clown, Dana Vaynberg and The Bounce Spot for sponsoring the bounce houses, Vierra Farms and Darcene Wallace for contributing to the selfie station, DJ Mark for emceeing the event, Memo Reyes for promotional videography, Sean Flansbaum of Flans Digital for capturing aerial and still footage of the event, and Gil and Saara Torres of Exclusive Realty for sponsoring the cotton candy machine and cheer-inducing dunk tank!

Thank you: Deo and Claudia Santos for manning the PTO fundraising table and capturing photos of so many smiling faces, Gerardo Zaragoza and Katy Gutierrez of GK Promos for manning the Carnival T-shirt Fundraiser table (these shirts are uniform approved and are still available to order), Henry and Audrey Rabas for representing Bee Active, the members of Walk Sacramento, and Taylor Collis for representing Bridgeway Play.

Thank you to our generous raffle sponsors for your ever appreciated donations: Laura Johnson, Lena Jordan, Keola Fitness, The Klubhouse 2, Edna Kuyama, LuLaRoe Lindsay & Wendy, Pediatric Dentistry of West Sacramento, The Reynon Family, and The Silvestre Family. Thank you to our food vendors for filing hungry bellies: Rich’s Ice Cream, Fusion Eatz, Post Oak BBQ, North Boarder Taco, Saucy Lito’s, and Slightly Skewed.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank the co-chairs of the Fall Carnival: Michelle Alves and Charmaine Flansbaum. It’s through their months of planning and hours of work that the Fall Carnival became a reality Friday where so many families came together to enjoy the fun and comradery of our community.

As you can see, it truly takes a village to create an event such as the PTO Fall Carnival, and I am incredibly thankful for our village!
